Beirut Beauty

This is home to Beirut-based interior designer May Daouk.  The over sized rooms with soaring ceilings are filled with an eclectic mix of antiques, art, and modern pieces.  I just love the use of color in this updated 19th century villa, the pastel walls, instead of making the rooms feel overtly sweet, somehow give the rooms a sense of heft and lively grandeur.  I spotted these magnificent photos by Simon Watson, in Architectural Digest this morning.

I adore the purple lacquered book cases and the purple velvet chairs.

I love the blue walls with the architectural prints, and the red chairs.  Just fabulous.  The ideas is sort of formal, but the execution is casual...the result is fabulous!
