Ricardo Legorreta







Noted Mexican architect Ricardo Legoretta recently passed away at the age of 80.  He was born in 1931 and was awarded the AIA gold medal in 2000.  He was known for his bold use of color, and for geometric shapes and planes that are transformed by the bright sun and strong shadows of Mexico.  He was a disciple of Luis Barragan, another Mexican architect who was born in 1902 and passed away in 1988.  You can see the resemblance to Barragan's Casa Barragan in Legoretta's work.
